Practical Resilience: Skills for Managing Secondary Trauma - November 14th, 2025

Your work changes lives, but it can also be heavy. This workshop isn’t a “Trauma 101” session; it’s created for nonprofit staff who already understand the weight of serving others. Join Cheryl Turner from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln on Friday, November 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation for a two-hour, interactive session that goes beyond the basics. Together, we’ll explore the realities of secondary trauma, how to recognize it in ourselves and our colleagues, and ways to have honest conversations with supervisors about the support you need.
You’ll walk away with practical skills you can use right away to strengthen resilience, protect your well-being, and better sustain your important work. Lunch is included. This special session is part of Community Foundations Week, celebrating the role nonprofits and foundations play in building stronger communities.
Cost: $20 per person. Includes lunch.
